The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that each of the three vehicles involved in the accident had one occupant each and that two of the drivers were seriously injured while the third was killed in the collision.
Todd W. Bennett, 19, of Linton, was seriously injured in the accident and originally transported by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital. Soon after he was airlifted to Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis for further treatment. As of 9 p.m. Wednesday night he was still listed in critical condition.
Lisa M. Shafer, 48, of Odon, also suffered serious injury and was taken by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital. There is no official update on Shafer’s current condition at this time.
Phillip K. Reynolds Jr., 51, of Linton, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Reynolds was transported to Greene County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Greene County Coroner’s office has stated that an autopsy will be performed Thursday morning at Terre Haute’s Regional Hospital.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office confirmed that an investigation of the accident is ongoing in conjunction with the Indiana State Police.

State Road 54 between Linton and Switz City is now open. More details will be released as they become available.
State Road 54, just east of County Road 800 West between Linton and Switz City, is closed for an undetermined amount of time due to a three-vehicle traffic accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.
Greene County Coroner Sherri Wilson confirmed that the accident resulted in one fatality.
“We’re not releasing more information yet because the family hasn’t been notified,” stated Wilson, adding that two other people were injured. One individual was lifelined from the scene and the other was taken to Greene County General Hospital.
